CATHERINE BLAKESPEAR EARNS THE ENDORSEMENT OF THE CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOR STATE SENATE BID
In February, Blakespear swept her opponent 110-2 at the Pre-Endorsement Conference which was ratified at the March Convention
Sacramento, California — Yesterday, the California Democratic Party endorsed Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear for State Senate District 38. The results of the California Democratic Party endorsing process became official Sunday morning upon the close of the annual Convention.
At the CDP’s Pre-Endorsement Conference last month, Blakespear won 96% of the delegate’s votes, 110 out of 114 ballots cast. 110 delegates voted for Blakespear, 2 voted for No Endorsement, and 2 voted for retired firefighter Joe Kerr. The two delegates who voted for Joe Kerr were himself and his son, both named Joe Kerr.
Delegates to the state party who live in Senate District 38 and representatives of local Democratic clubs were able to vote in the Pre-Endorsement Conference. According to DNC rules, endorsements are decided by a public vote. No secret ballots are allowed.
The endorsement of the California Democratic Party officially conveys the endorsement of the San Diego County Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of Orange County, pursuant to the CDP’s bylaws.
