I have to tell you, I’m really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. I was re-reading my message to you from last Thanksgiving, and in it I shared that we still had reason for hope, gratitude and optimism, despite being in the midst of those dreary pre-vaccine pandemic days.
COVID-19 hospitalizations were at then-record highs as the more powerful Delta variant emerged, businesses were closing (some permanently), families were struggling financially, emotionally and medically, and the group celebrations that sustained our spirits were seriously downsized or cancelled altogether. In almost every way imaginable, we were all hurting.
This Thanksgiving, despite the hardships and anxieties that still linger, things feel somehow lighter. Vaccines have made a significant dent in the pandemic, and if we’re diligent, we can travel and celebrate nourishing times with friends and family.
Our faith that we can still create a brighter future together is being gradually restored. And that’s something I’m deeply thankful for!
My Thanksgiving wish for you is that you and yours can savor this peaceful break, and gather to enjoy each others’ company (not to mention too much food). Together, we’ve made it this far, and better days lie ahead.
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
In service,
