11/26/17: Tasha for Assembly!

November 26, 2017

Most of us sense that we’re living in a crucial period in our country, as well as here in north county. Regional decisions will have a direct effect on Encinitas for years to come.
We have an exciting opportunity to improve our lives in Encinitas by promoting one of our own to higher office in 2018 – someone extremely capable who we already know and trust.

So I’d like to enthusiastically invite you to a fundraiser co-hosted by Councilmember Joe Mosca and me on Sunday, December 17 from 1-3 p.m. to support our City Council colleague, Tasha Boerner Horvath, in her run for California State Assembly District 76, an election that is just one year away.
Even if you can’t make the event, please support this great candidate by contributing HERE.
Tasha’s running in 2018 to unseat Rocky Chavez, who, for the last five years in Sacramento, has been representing the City of Encinitas, along with Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista and Camp Pendleton.
Here’s why I strongly believe that the almost 500,000 residents in this 76th district would be much better served with Tasha as our representative:

  1. Tasha has a wide range of public policy passions – environment, housing, income equality, jobs and healthcare. In the last legislative session, our current assembly member passed only a handful of bills and they were all related to veteran issues. While important, we expect elected officials to represent multiple constituencies and a wider range of issues. He also voted against key state bills, like the road repair bill, which will improve our deteriorating roads and freeways after years of deferred maintenance. We deserve better.
  2. Tasha was born for public service and policy work. She sweats the small stuff and has the eye of the tiger. She doesn’t just show up and cast a vote. Tasha digs in, understands nuances, is incredibly smart and quick on her feet. She’s detail-oriented, while always keeping the big picture in mind. She contributes substantively to the dialogue. Her core personality, which I know well after serving with her on the City Council, is perfectly aligned with the job description of an effective state legislator. We want Tasha representing us!
  3. The best indicator of future success is past success. Tasha is the only candidate challenging Rocky who has held elected office; she won the last City Council election in an impressive showing, winning more votes than one of the incumbents. She’s not only run for elected office and won; but proven herself effective, responsive and thoughtful once elected. Tasha can win this race!
  4. How great would it be to have a third-generation Encinitan, who intimately knows Encinitas’ concerns, as our State Assembly representative?

Please join Joe Mosca and me on Sunday, December 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for a fundraiser to support Tasha’s candidacy.

Ask your questions, plumb her expertise, become inspired. Just one year from the next election is the time when all the chess pieces are organizing on the board. Help support the best candidate early when it makes all the difference. The address of the Encinitas event will be provided upon RSVP.
Please RSVP online at: bit.ly/meet-tasha-dec17 or email [email protected].
Please contribute whatever you can, there’s no minimum and every bit is critical. Your contribution will help Tasha register voters, go door-to-door, and provide campaign resources to our community – all things critical to victory.
If you can’t make it, but would like to contribute to Tasha’s success you can donate online at: bit.ly/teamtasha-dec17.
Tasha, Joe and I will be excited to see you at this important event, and we’re grateful for any support you can offer!
Looking forward,

Sorry, you are not in the 38th Senate District.
